Kite Island

Barnegat Bay is a shallow body of clean water with most areas waist deep. Famous New Jersey warm southerly thermal winds blow on average 2-3 times per weeks in May, June and July. Sailors launch at 68th Street (Bayview Park) in Brant Beach or at Harvey Cedars Park in Harvey Cedars. 68th Street is the preferred flat water launch for southwest, west, northwest, north and northeast winds. Harvey Cedars is excellent for Southwest, west, northwest and south winds.

Northeast, south and southwest winds provide excellent ocean sailing at 9th Street , Barnegat Light or 33rd Street in Brant Beach.

Kite & Dine

Southwind Grill, Southwind Marina, end of Lacey Road, Lacey

; $$$

Inconsistent, can be noisy seated inside. Outside is great if there aren't too many mosquitoes. Mixed drinks are watered down.

Tiki Bar, on the road to Southwind Marina

$ Steak sandwich is good.....not sure if it is worth trying anything else.

Shady Rest Restaurant, 796 U.S. Highway 9, Bayville, NJ 08721-3030

; $$ don't bother

Mrs. Walkers Ice cream parlor, on Hwy. 9 in Forked River

Joe's favorite for chocolate milkshakes (Hugo is to blame for the increase in chocolate milkshake consumption). Be sure to ask for "hard" ice cream and extra thick. Skip the chocolate ice cream sodas.

Rita's (across the street from Mrs. Walkers)

I'm a big fan of the misto shakes (half frozen custard and half Italian ice).

Kite & Dine

Great deli and sandwich place:

Forked River German Butcher on 109 Lacey Road. Make sure you get german kielbasa.

$ Awesome bakery (cheap too):

Baldanza's Bakery at 732 Atlantic City Blvd in Beachwood(that's route 9 at exit 80).

Prices: One escalade fill up will currently buy you approximately 8 chocolate mousse cheese cakes.

$ Saavedra's Mexican Rstrnt at 787 US Highway 9 (on the way to Trixies) corner of rt 9 and Butler Blvd - make sure you try their Chimichanga.

Podeis traer vuestro alcohol.

Great Bagels:

Don't remember the name - the place is on Lacey road as soon as you get off exit 74 on the left after the Shell Gas station. Lots of flavors to choose from.
